In business, mentors and guidance should be prized, as long as you want to stay relevant. While speaking with a mentor recently, we were reminded of something extraordinarily important: an agreement is just a piece of paper, and the paper is more expensive than the verbiage written on it more times than not.
When working with vendors, partners, clients, employees, etc. the bond and mutual respect is key. You want to ensure that as often as possible, everyone wins and receives value. This is not something that can be attained all the time as everyone is different and sometimes helping a client to obtain 100 leads a month isn’t actually what they thought they wanted when you bring it fruition as an example. You have to admit that understanding a contract or an agreement is simply a formality, and an important one, but what is pinnacle is living up to your side of the bargain and bringing the good stuff to the table.
